Who Is Greg Schmidt?
I always knew I wanted to help people and make a difference in people's lives. I know this sounds very cliche but I knew I was put on the earth to make a positive impact in others. I just need to find out what that was!!
Born and raised in Northwest Iowa I always dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. I got looked at by 2 different Major League teams for about 2 years but nothing panned out for me.
I guess I was destined for something else, then. I decided to become a personal trainer in 1999. Ok, now I was helping people, making a difference in others lives and creating a positive impact in the world. At the time, I thought this was my calling. With the recession and the state of our economy, I knew that this wasn't going to be my ticket to live the dream lifestyle I wanted for myself and family. I loved what I did for about 9 years but it all changed one night. It was April 4, 2009. My wife Jennifer and I were at a restaurant and were exchanging gifts. (Our anniversary is April 7th.)
We have this little competition of who's going to give the best gift. All week we were both teasing each other that we each had the better gift for one another. I got her these Tiffany's earings and necklace she's been wanting. I thought for sure "I won" this year. Boy was I WRONG!!
I proceeded to open her gift to me. I remember all week saying that she had the BEST gift anyone could give to one another. Yeah right! Who could beat Tiffany's earnings and a necklace!! When I opened the box I found a little "onesie" (the clothing that newborn babies wear). This is what I actually thought (No joking). "This won't fit me"!! I actually said that!
Then as I dug deeper into the box, I found a bib. I really thought it was for me. Again I said "this won't fit me" No Joking I was STILL oblivious to what was actually going on! Probably because on the hour and a half waiting time for our table.
Then it hit me when I saw the ulta sound. It read: "Can't wait to meet you, dad!" (As I still get teary eyed whenever I tell this story) This is THE Moment EVERYTHING changed for me and what I was doing with my life.
I wanted to spend every second with my son. Looking at my job, I wasn't going to be able to do that. I figured I would have to work 60 hours a week to allow my wife to quit her job and stay home with our son. I was at first willing to do that but we both wanted to stay home with him.
Because:
I was NOT going to be the father who worked 40-50 hours a week only to come home to see his son already asleep!
I was NOT going to be the father who didn't get to see his son grow up!
I was NOT going to be the father that missed his school plays, baseball games and other events!
This is why I became my own boss and take life into my own hands to create the lifestyle our family deserves! I chose the path of internet marketing. After I researched what internet marketing was, I was blown away at what this could do for our family. I quickly learned that in order to be a success at anything in life, you need to have a VISION! A reason why you are doing what you are doing.
My Vision:
I WILL walk my son, Tristan, to school everyday and back!
My Son WILL know who is Dad is!
I WILL spend breakfast, lunch and dinner with my son and wife everyday!
I WILL have a better relationship with my wife because of the extra time we will have together!
I WILL create a lucrative home business so I can do whatever I want, whenver I want!
I WILL build a team of hungry entrepreneurs that have a similar and powerful vision!
I WILL better our ecomony, our country and world by creating 100 successful home business entreprenuers!
